Chanaka Nalin Gunasekarage
Chanaka has had an impressive journey that any young chef would dream of. He started off small from the Temple Road, Thiththawella in Sri Lanka but had exactly what it takes to make it big – VISION. Chanaka sees those intricate details in everything and is quite a character to work with. He works very closely with his suppliers, kitchen team and the service staff as he understands that it’s the different pieces that put the puzzle together. Having worked across Sri Lanka and Maldives, Chanaka found home in Australia in 2008 and has developed extensive knowledge of Australian market and produce ever since. He has worked and trained with multiple Michelin Star and Hatted Chefs along his journey and headed the reputed kitchen at Subcontinental by Long Grain in his recent experience. Pushp started his career in hospitality back home in India where he studied bachelors in the field. He always had a thing about creating memories for people and decided to take that forward and moved to Australia to do his Masters. Along the path he worked for reputed brands such as Hyatt, IHG, Palazzo Versace and specialised in guest experience management. He was nominated for TAA Awards NSW as the Rising Star of the Year in 2017 as he takes pride in improvising on every opportunity to make it the best in a contemporary and dynamic hospitality world.
